MACOM launches 4W power amplifier for Ku-band VSAT and SatCom applications
At the IEEE International Microwave Symposium (IMS 2020) virtual event (4–6 August), MACOM Technology Solutions Inc of Lowell, MA, USA (which makes semiconductors, components and subassemblies for analog RF, microwave, millimeter-wave and photonic applications) has launched the MAAP-011313 Ku-band power amplifier (PA).
Packaged in a lead-free 5mm surface-mount QFN plastic package, the power amplifier operates at 13.5-15GHz and provides 36dB of P3dB linear gain (saturated output power at 3dB gain compression), 34.5dBm of P1dB (output power at 1dB compression point), 4W of saturated output power and power-added efficiency (PAE) of 28% (at P3dB) while biased at +6V. The input & output return loss is 15dB. The third-order intermodulation product (IM3) level is -28dBc (at Pout=28dBm).
The MAAP-011313 can be used as a power amplifier stage or as a driver stage in higher-power applications. The device is suitable for linear Ku-band VSAT and point-to-point radio applications.
