DILAS Diodenlaser GmbH of Mainz, Germany, which designs and manufactures high-power diode laser components, modules and systems, is to begin distributing single-emitter diode lasers made by m2k-laser GmbH of Freiburg, Germany.
m2K was founded in 2001 and acquired by Rofin-Sinar Laser GmbH of Hamburg, Germany in 2007. DILAS is majority owned by parent firm Rofin-Sinar Technologies Europe S.L. (a subsidiary of Rofin-Sinar Technologies Inc of Plymouth, MI, USA).
m2K manufactures single-emitter diode lasers (mainly for scientific applications). These include tapered amplifiers based on gallium arsenide (GaAs) emitting at wavelengths of 755-1064nm and providing M2 beam quality for use in external-cavity and MOPA (master oscillator power amplifier) systems, as well as high-power diode lasers in broad-area or ridge-waveguide designs based on gallium antimonide (GaSb) emitting at 1.8-2.4 microns.
