Arima Opto receives large order for AlGaInP LEDs

Taiwan-based LED chipmaker Arima Optoelectronics has received a large order for AlGaInP red LEDs used in brake lights and outdoor bulletin boards from an international vendor, with shipments starting in fourth-quarter 2006,
according to the Chinese-language Commercial Times (reported in Digitimes).

To fulfill the order, Arima Opto plans to install a further three large-scale MOCVD reactors in the fourth quarter.

Due to the order, the high-luminance LED product line is expected to contribute more than 30% to Arima Opto's revenues in 2007, up from a single-digit percentage currently.
