RFIC maker Anadigics Inc of Warren, NJ, USA is shipping its HELP2 EV-DO
power amplifiers (PAs) to Samsung Electronics for the new SCH-a870 CDMA
handset, which is being offered by the top CDMA wireless service provider in
the US and features a color display, camera with flash, Bluetooth, and
speakerphone.
Anadigics' second-generation High-Efficiency-at-Low-Power (HELP2) EV-DO PAs provide exceptional efficiency, reducing average current consumption by 50%, claims Anadigics, and reducing power consumption and increasing talk-time.
Samsung Electronics' SCH-a870 uses both the AWT6307 and AWT6308 HELP2 PAs
for US cellular band and PCS band operation, respectively. The highly
integrated 3mm by 3mm HELP2 PAs eliminate the need for external voltage
regulation, reducing bill-of-materials, and maintain pin-to-pin
compatibility with existing 4mm by 4mm amplifiers, reducing PCB space
requirements by up to 50%.
"We look forward to working closely with Samsung Electronics on the design of new handsets for the rapidly growing 2.5G and 3G markets," said Dr Bami Bastani, Anadigics' president & CEO.
