Maker of diode laser systems, pump laser diodes and fiber coupled modules, Lumics GmbH of Berlin, Germany has added Dr Bruno Acklin and Frank Laas to its management team.
With a career in marketing and engineering management spanning 15 years, Acklin joins Lumics as the firm’s new managing director. Prior to joining Lumics he directed the development of active components at JDSU in San Jose. From 1995 to 2000 Acklin was at Osram Opto Semiconductors in Regensburg, Germany, where he developed the high power laser diode business segment. Prior to this, as a researcher at AT&T Bell and Siemens corporate Laboratories, Acklin coauthored 15 patents and several publications covering optoelectronics.
Laas will be responsible for the firm’s sales and marketing effort. Prior to Lumics he managed worldwide sales for Limo, before which he was with ELS and Newport.
Dr Karl Eberl, chief operating officer, will focus on production and packaging, while chief technology officer Dr Nils Kirstaedter will continue to lead the firm’s R&D and chip production.
