HelioVolt Corp of Austin, TX, USA, which produces thin-film photovoltaic products based on copper indium gallium diselenide (CIGS), has added two new vice presidents to its executive management team - Larry Peruffo as VP of supply chain and David Bowen as VP of manufacturing operations – as it prepares to expand its manufacturing capabilities.
“The speed and efficiency of the manufacturing process is central to producing cost-effective solar energy products,” says CEO B.J. Stanbery, who founded HelioVolt in 2001. “HelioVolt is now ready to build on its core innovation – our proprietary FASST process [based on semiconductor printing] for rapid CIGS thin-film manufacturing – to secure economies along the entire value chain of the production process, from materials through systems-level engineering,” he adds. FASST can apply thin-film PV coatings to a variety of substrates, including conventional construction materials. “The operational, manufacturing, and global logistics acumen embodied by both Peruffo and Bowen will be an invaluable addition to our already strong team as HelioVolt executes on its plans for production scale-up and delivery to worldwide markets,” says Stanbery.
During 24 years at Applied Materials (most recently as managing director of materials), Peruffo led dramatic manufacturing and supply chain process improvements for a range of high-growth, complex technologies, says HelioVolt. In his new role, he will develop the global supply chain required to implement the FASST manufacturing process across HelioVolt’s growing line of thin-film-enabled solar energy products.
Prior to joining HelioVolt, David Bowen was VP of operations and technology at Essilor Laboratories of America, where transitioned its ophthalmic optics technology from R&D to large-scale production. Bowen will guide strategic operations as HelioVolt expands product development and manufacturing capabilities in the USA and elsewhere.
