Epiplus Co Ltd of Gyoungi-Do, Korea has ordered an AIX 2600G3 Planetary Reactor system from Aixtron AG of Aachen, Germany, to mass produce AlGaInP ultra-high brightness (UHB) red LEDs.
In 49x2” wafer configuration, the Epiplus’ MOCVD system comes in Aixtron’s new IC (Integrated Concept) layout, incorporating digital mass flow controllers (MFCs) and the new AIXACT control system design.
Epiplus already has experience with Aixtron systems, having prepared KOPTI Institute’s AIX2600G3 for the mass production of UHB LEDs.
Mr. Hae-Sung Park, CEO of Epiplus, said that the company’s familiarity Aixtron’s MOCVD tools for AlGaInP and GaN had made it a straightforward decision to “. . . place this order for Aixtron’s AlGaInP reactor in order to move our strategic business expansion forward, with the focus on red LEDs for display back-lighting units (BLUs). Epiplus is the only local Korean supplier of significant amounts of red LEDs. With our new Planetary Reactor we will be able to further improve our unique market position in Korea. It will also allow us to keep pace with the ongoing demands from our customers regarding device quality and strict cost control.”Visit Epiplus: http://www.epiplus.com
