Axiom Microdevices Inc of Irvine, CA, USA, which supplies fully integrated commodity CMOS silicon power amplifiers (PA) for mobile handsets, has appointed Raymond Wang as director of Asia Pacific (APAC) sales, as well as Taiwan-based electronics distributor Watson-Bell Co Ltd, to further support its APAC growth strategy.
“The APAC region, especially mainland China, Taiwan, and Korea, is immensely important to the mobile phone industry and requires local sales and design-in support,” says CEO Brett Butler. “We have had local engineering support covering mainland China and Taiwan, but the appointment of a seasoned veteran like Raymond Wang to lead our sales initiative in that region will increase the momentum behind our growing market footprint in this critical region.”
Prior to joining Axiom, Wang was director of China sales for Paradigm (later sold to REMEC Inc), where he managed sales in excess of $65m, supporting customers such as Nokia, Huawei, ZTE, Lucent, China Mobile and China Telecom. As managing director for Great China Paradigm Wireless System Ltd, Wang supported customers such as Lucent China, Huawei and ZTE.
Watson-Bell is a Taiwan-based components and technology provider, specializing in the design-in and technical support for key technologies into applications such as mobile handsets, mobile computing and entertainment devices.
Axiom’s alignment with Watson-Bell supports its growth plans in the Asia Pacific region by providing an additional sales and technical support channel for its line of CMOS PA products to the Taiwanese cellular handset ODM/OEM community.
“Raymond, our existing local engineering support and a strong distributor like Watson-Bell will augment our previously announced coverage in Korea,” says VP of sales Bill Sweeney.
