Cree’s XLamp LEDs chosen for ASP’s Triad flashlights

ASP Inc of Appleton, WI, USA, which makes high-precision flashlights used by law enforcement and military personnel, has designed the new XLamp 7090 XR-E Series of power LEDs from Cree Inc of Durham, NC, USA into its top-line Triad flashlight models.

Brightness and efficiency are critical features in battery-powered, portable lighting applications such as hand-held flashlights, says Cree. Its XR-E Series LEDs also produce the high-quality, uniform white light required, it claims. The new white XR-E series LED produces typical luminous flux of 80 lumens at 350mA, yielding 70 lumens per watt.

“Our customers literally stake their lives on the performance of our lighting products,” says ASP’s chief executive officer Kevin Parsons. “Our new Triad product line is now a unique new class of high-performance, high-reliability safety flashlights.”

Earlier this month, Cree announced that its XLamp 7090 XR-E Series power LEDs had also been chosen as the light source in three new models of flashlight made by SureFire LLC of Fountain Valley, CA, USA.
