Avago Technologies of San Jose, CA, USA has made available a high-performance, low-noise amplifier (LNA) in an ultra-thin 2.0mm x 1.3mm x 0.4mm package that operates in the 2.4GHz spectrum (a 3.5GHz product will follow).
With an integrated bypass switch and shut-down function, the easy-to-use MGA-645T6 is optimized for customer premise equipment and base-station equipment used in 802.11 b/g (wireless LAN), WiMAX, WiBro and satellite digital multimedia broadband (S-DMB) applications.
Because of WiMAX’s highly volatile transmission environment, LNAs are essential to improve received signal levels in order to ensure system efficiency and data accuracy, says Avago. A low noise figure of 1.1db and high linearity improve the receiver’s channel capacity and dynamic range, and enable simultaneous WLAN and WiMAX functionality. Also, the shut-down function extends battery life of portable WiFi devices.
*Avago launches LNAs for next-generation cellular infrastructure
Avago Technologies’ new MGA-631P8 and MGA-632P8 family of low-noise amplifiers integrates a current-adjustable gain feature (for tuning to the desired gain fitting, lowering the bill of materials) as well as an active bias circuit (for a better temperature response, simplified product design and reduced PCB space), all in a compact 2.0mm x 2.0mm x 0.75mm leadless package.
Designed for easy incorporation into the receiver chain for GSM, CDMA2000, WCDMA and WiMAX base-stations and repeaters, the LNAs are optimized for next-generation cellular infrastructure markets.
