Samsung Electronics says it has started US shipments of its new range of six Slim Depth LED Engine Widescreen DLP HDTV models, featuring PhlatLight LED technology from Luminus of Woburn, MA, USA. The new HDTVs offer 1080p resolution and use Luminus’ high-power, energy-efficient LED illumination in place of the typical UHP or arc lamp used in most projection TVs.
The new models are illuminated by a single PhlatLight PT120 chipset, which are in full-scale production at Luminus’ semiconductor fab just outside Boston, Mass, USA.
