CyOptics Inc, a maker of indium phospide (InP) optical chip and component technologies, has introduced a Transmit Optical Sub-Assembly (TOSA) for 4Gbit/sec fiber channel transceiver applications up to 80km. The 4Gb/s fiber channel standard boosts the performance of storage area networks (SAN) by doubling the speed while maintaining backward-compatibility with 1Gb/s and 2Gb/s systems.
"The Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA) has stated that the market acceptance of 4G Fiber Channel is at an all time high," said Ali Abouzari, VP sales for CyOptics. "The CyOptics TOSA will further enable this application to address longer reach criteria."
The company has also started volume production of its 2.5Gb/s DWDM TOSA for use in Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) optical transceivers. It enables 100GHz channel spacing, is fully qualified, and addresses CWDM and both the C and L bands.
