SETi & Seoul Viosys showcasing UV LED technology advances in horticultural lighting
Sensor Electronics Technology Inc (SETi) of Columbia, SC, USA – a division of South Korean LED maker Seoul Semiconductor and UV LED product maker Seoul Viosys that manufactures UV-A, UV-B and UV-C deep-ultraviolet LEDs (emitting at wavelengths shorter than 365nm) – is participating at the LIGHTFAIR International 2019 trade show at the Philadelphia Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA (19–23 May), exhibiting with Seoul Semiconductor in booth #3101.
“LIGHTFAIR is an ideal venue for us to showcase our latest UV LED innovations, and to introduce the larger lighting community to the technology advances that UV LEDs are making in horticultural as well as industrial applications,” says Dr Peter Barber, director of business development for SETi and Seoul Viosys in the Americas.
SETi and Seoul Viosys are showcasing what is claimed to be the LED industry’s first product line encompassing the entire UV spectrum from 225nm to 405nm, developed for a range of applications, including horticultural lighting to enhance plant growth cycles and control diseases.
“We recently presented a webinar on the use of UV-B LEDs to increase secondary plant metabolites, increase resiliency to powdery mildew and mold, and extend the post-harvest shelf life of produce,” says Barber. The one-hour webinar ‘Next Evolution in Horticulture Lighting’ was originally presented on 14 May, and is now available on-demand (registration is free).
