Eoptolink and Innovium validate interoperability of 400G transceiver modules with TERALYNX switch ASIC
Eoptolink Technology Inc Ltd of Chengdu, China has announced the validation of its 400G QSFP-DD DR4 and FR4 optical transceiver modules with the 12.8Tbps TERALYNX switch application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) of Innovium Inc of San Jose, CA, USA (a provider of networking switch silicon for data centers).
Eoptolinks’ 400G DR4 and FR4 transceiver modules are fully MSA compliant. The full functionality of the transceiver has been tested and verified together in 400G switches using Innovium’s 12.8Tbps TERALYNX switch ASIC, representing another milestone in building up the 400G multi-source eco-system. The DR4 modules support break-out applications with independent channel function for 4x100GbE enabling shuffle and aggregation applications using 100G DR links. The DR4 and FR4 modules support 2km transmission distance. Eoptolink’s 400G product family is claimed to offer best in class power consumption and performance.
“It is important for us to demonstrate interoperability between our transceivers and other products,” says Eoptolink’s CEO Richard Huang. “In 400G systems, interoperability of components becomes more complex... Successful interoperability reduces risk in product development and simplifies network rollout for our customers,” he adds.
“Deployments of 5G, video, NVMe over fabric, machine learning and data analytics are driving cloud and telco customers to scale their network infrastructure and embrace 400G connectivity,” notes Amit Sanyal, VP of product management & marketing at Innovium. “Solutions with proven interoperability will deliver a highly scalable network with compelling economic value.”
The TERALYNX product line offers what is claimed to be the fastest 12.8 Terabits/sec throughput while delivering line-rate programmability, large on-chip buffers, breakthrough telemetry, and low latency. TERALYNX supports 10GbE to 400GbE Ethernet and delivers 128 ports of 100GbE, 64 ports of 200GbE or 32 ports of 400GbE in a single device. Innovium’s patented ground-up design in TERALYNX is said to provide advantages in future-proofed programmable switching technology with robust tunneling, low latency, power efficiency and advanced analytics/telemetry that are essential for scaling next-generation data centers.
