Mission Microwave announces highly integrated GaN BUCs for portable SATCOM terminals

Mission Microwave Technologies LLC of Santa Fe Springs, CA, USA, which makes solid-state power amplifiers (SSPAs) and block up-converters (BUCs), has announced general availability of compact BUCs in the Ku- and Ka-bands for use in lightweight and embedded platforms.
Available in 12W Ka-band and 25W Ku-band versions, the Flatpack BUCs are just 1” thick and weigh only 1.75lbs. With forced air cooling and a full monitor and control interface, they are completely self-contained, and are suitable for rugged environments with an IP-67 rating.
The Ku-band Cube is a ruggedized 2.5lb, 25W BUC with a full suite of monitor and control functions available in serial or Ethernet formats. It draws less than 80W of DC power to produce 16W of linear power.

The 25W Ku-band Cube BUC is already deployed on customer terminals and is being exhibited integrated into small antenna offerings from multiple vendors at Satellite 2018 (booth #1225) in Washington, DC (13-15 March).
