MACOM Technology Solutions Holdings Inc of Lowell, MA, USA (which makes semiconductors, components and subassemblies for RF, microwave, millimeter-wave and lightwave applications) has launched a new portfolio of wideband double-balanced mixers – the MAMX-011036 and the MAMX-011054 – covering the 8–43GHz and 18–46GHz frequency ranges respectively. Delivering low conversion loss, high linearity and a wide intermediate frequency (IF) bandwidth, the new MAMX Series mixers are suited to meeting the performance requirements for next-generation test & measurement (T&M), microwave radio and radar applications.

The double-balanced circuit configuration provides what is claimed to be excellent port isolation, while internal 50Ω matching simplifies the application. In addition, the class 1B (500–1000V) electrostatic discharge (ESD) rating ensures high levels of ruggedness and reliability. Both devices are available in compact 3mm, 12-lead QFN plastic packaging as well as bare die formats (1.20mm x 0.97mm x 0.10mm for the MAMX-011036 and 1.15mm x 0.97mm x 0.10mm for the MAMX-011054) for flexible integration.

“MACOM is investing in key technologies across every stage in the signal chain, aiming to cultivate product portfolios that enable significant gains in performance, reliability and ease of integration,” says Graham Board, senior director of product marketing. “The newest entries in the MAMX Series embody MACOM’s sustained strategy to provide every component – from building block device to highly specialized solutions – to elevate the value of our customers’ end designs,” he adds.

MACOM is showcasing its RF technology portfolio in booth #1125 at the IEEE’s International Microwave Symposium (IMS 2018) in Philadelphia (12–14 June). The firm’s booth features new product solutions optimized for 5G connectivity, base-stations, SatCom, test & measurement, ISM (industrial, scientific & medical) and radio communications.
