MACOM launches power detector operating from 5–44GHz, supporting high dynamic range of 30dB

MACOM Technology Solutions Holdings Inc of Lowell, MA, USA (which makes semiconductors, components and subassemblies for RF, microwave, millimeter-wave and lightwave applications) has announced immediate availability of its new MADT-011000 power detector for applications spanning microwave radios, test & measurement (T&M) equipment and radar systems. Operating from 5–44GHz and supporting a high dynamic range of 30dB (-15dBm to +15dBm input), the MADT-011000 power detector features what is claimed to be industry-leading wide-input bandwidth and device performance to enable optimal power control.
The single-ended internally matched MADT-011000 consumes 70µA of current from a 4.5V supply voltage, while the matched detector and reference diodes provide temperature compensation in differential operation. It is offered in both a 3mm 16-lead QFN package and in 1mm x 0.75mm x 0.1mm bare die format, with ESD protection for reliability and ease of handling.
“The wide bandwidth and dynamic range, very low power dissipation and external directional coupler makes this an ideal solution for both narrow- and wide-bandwidth power control circuits,” says Graham Board, senior director of product marketing. “This one power detector will cover all of the high-volume wireless backhaul bands from 5 to 44GHz, significantly simplifying component selection and circuit design for the radio designer.”
