AquiSense launches smallest UV water treatment system

AquiSense Technologies LLC of Erlanger, KY, USA (which designs and manufactures water, air and surface disinfection systems based on UV-C LEDs) has launched three validated water disinfection platforms including the PearlAqua Micro (claimed to be the world’s smallest ultraviolet water treatment system) as well as the newly designed PearlAqua and the PearlAqua OEM product platforms. All use UV LEDs in a patented design that has been refined since 2012, when the original PearlAqua system was introduced.

“As the UV-C LEDs we use in our products have become powerful, and costs are reduced, compact UV systems can be designed to fit in almost any existing water system or device,” says Oliver Lawal, founder & CEO of AquiSense, which was acquired last August by Nikkiso America Inc (the US subsidiary of Tokyo-based Nikkiso Co Ltd). “AquiSense has engineered an affordable and robust water disinfection system that can be literally applied at the point of consumption, opening up an entirely new market for UV disinfection for water treatment – micro UV,” he adds. “AquiSense is passionate in their goal to provide real-world solutions to pressing global demand for enhanced protection against waterborne pathogens and the versatility of PearlAqua Micro will become an important tool,” he reckons.

Introduced in 2012 as the first UV-C LED product designed for water disinfection, the original full-specification PearlAqua range has been refined for increased environmental robustness, ease of operation, and lower cost. The latest product is a self-contained UV treatment system that integrates LEDs into a unique and compact design, without the use of chemicals or mercury-based lamps. It allows for instant full-intensity power, unlimited cycling, remote start/stop, and - as there is no heat transfer into the process fluid - it does not promote fouling over time.

The third addition to the range is the PearlAqua OEM platform, which opens the door to low-cost/small-footprint UV disinfection specifically designed to fit into third-party devices and systems, says AquiSense. The new design is equipped with an easy-to-replace UV-C LED lamp module and configurable options, including forced air cooling, onboard data logging, and digital I/O for device functionality.

The official global launch of the new systems takes place in booth 245 at the 2017 Water Quality Exhibition in Orlando, Florida (28-31 March), providing exclusive first-access for attendees. All platforms are available for immediate order and have already been third-party-certified and field tested with leading OEM suppliers globally.
