Skyworks launches LNA front-end module for GPS applications
Skyworks Solutions Inc of Woburn, MA, USA (which manufactures analog and mixed-signal semiconductors) has launched the SKY65903-11, a new low-noise amplifier (LNA) front-end module (FEM) with integrated pre- and post-filters for GPS receiver applications.
The 1559-1606MHz module is suitable for global positioning systems (GPS) and global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) in end products such as fitness/activity trackers, watches, pet trackers, smartphones and tablets.
The device is said to feature high linearity, excellent gain, and a low noise figure for improved signal-to-noise ratio. It is claimed that the integrated pre- and post-filters provide low in-band insertion loss and excellent rejection for the cellular, PCS and WLAN frequency bands.
Low current consumption extends battery life, and single DC supply simplifies design and minimizes board layout. The compact 16-pin, 2.5mm x 2.5mm multi-chip module (MCM) package allows for a highly manufacturable and low-cost solution, the firm adds.
