Plessey unveiling additions to Orion LED module range at LuxLive
On stand M8 at the LuxLive event at London's ExCeL arena (23-24 November), UK-based lighting and sensing product and component maker Plessey is unveiling additions to its Orion LED module family based on Stellar beam-forming technology. The new modules will form an interchangeable family, allowing lighting designers to simply substitute modules to create a family of compact luminaires suitable for a wide range of lighting applications.
The Orion PLWS3000 series module (launched in early October) delivers more than 3000 lumens from a unit just 5.6mm thick and 82mm in diameter. Also, it uses Plessey's Stellar beam-forming technology to achieve a powerful and highly directional beam from such a slim module. Key features include improved light uniformity and thermal performance, giving architectural and industrial lighting designers a new level of design freedom.
"By integrating the LED module with the optics, Plessey has delivered the next phase in LED lighting with low cost, high efficiency and greater control of light," says Paul Drosihn, Plessey's head of Modular Products. "Orion modules will transform the design of retail, industrial, hospitality and outdoor lighting," he believes. "The improved thermal characteristics allows the heat sink to be reduced in size, enabling further size reductions in the end fixture."
