Skyworks launches AEC-Q100-qualified SOI-based SPDT switch for automotive applications

Analog and mixed-signal device maker Skyworks Solutions Inc of Woburn, MA, USA has unveiled the SKYA21003, a new CMOS silicon-on insulator (SOI) single-pole double-throw (SPDT) switch targeted at automotive LTE cellular and general-purpose RF applications.

The next-generation product is AEC-Q100 Grade 2 Qualified with guaranteed RF performance across extended temperature limits, making it suitable for LTE cellular telematics modems, remote keyless entry devices, infotainment systems, automated toll transponders, garage door openers, GPS/navigation platforms, and other wireless control solutions.

The SOI process technology ensures what is claimed to be excellent RF performance without compromising electrostatic discharge (ESD). The solution features a wide frequency range (0.1-6GHz), is capable of supporting popular industrial, scientific & medical (ISM) bands, 5GHz Wi-Fi, as well as future cellular bands, and has what is claimed to be excellent power handling capability, with P1dB (output power at 1dB gain compression) of 38dBm, meeting the need for higher-power carrier LTE aggregation telematics designs.

Skyworks says that the SKYA21003 has high-linearity performance and low insertion loss with an operating temperature range from -40°C to +105°C, allowing operation in challenging automotive operating environments. It is available in a compact quad flat no-lead (QFN) 2mm x 2mm x 0.55mm package.
