Custom MMIC launches 9-18GHz balanced LNA

Monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) developer Custom MMIC of Westford, MA, USA is now offering a 9-18GHz balanced low-noise amplifier (LNA) suitable for electronic warfare (EW) and communication systems where small size and low power consumption are critical.

The CMD223 features a low noise figure, high gain, broadband performance, what are claimed to be excellent return losses, and single positive supply voltage. At 13.5GHz, the CMD223 delivers more than 22dB of gain with a corresponding P1dB (output 1dB compression point) of +13.5dBm and a noise figure of 1.5dB.

The device is a 50 Ohm matched design, which eliminates the need for external DC blocks and RF port matching. It also offers full passivation for increased reliability and moisture protection.

Applications of the new LNA include point-to-point radios, military and space, test instrumentation, and sensors.
