SPTS wins third consecutive annual award for occupational health & safety
Plasma etch, deposition and thermal wafer processing equipment maker SPTS Technologies Ltd (an Orbotech company) of Newport, Wales, UK has won a Gold Award in the UK's Royal Society of Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards for the third consecutive year, to be presented on 15 July during a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel.
"The RoSPA Awards encourage improvement in occupational health and safety management," says RoSPA's awards manager David Rawlins. "Organizations that gain recognition for their health and safety management systems, such as SPTS Technologies, contribute to raising standards overall."
RoSPA is a safety charity that recognizes companies that have demonstrated a commitment to occupational safety & health for their staff. Dating back 59 years, the RoSPA Awards scheme is the largest and longest-running programme of its kind in the UK. Through the scheme (which is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes across the UK and overseas), judges consider entrants' overarching occupational health & safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce improvement. Organizations that maintain high standards in consecutive years can win gold medals.
"We have a strong culture of continuous improvement throughout our organization and place particular importance to health & safety at all levels of the business," says SPTS Technologies' VP of human resources Tony Knowles. "It takes commitment and support of all the staff to maintain this high level of H&S best practice in the work place."
