Cree's next-gen BR30 LED flood light priced under $10
LED chip, lamp and lighting fixture maker Cree Inc of Durham, NC, USA has introduced the next generation of its BR30 LED flood light, claimed to be the first LED BR30 replacement to deliver no-compromise, high-performance LED lighting at a price of just $9.97.
The firm says that the bulb's design uses just a quarter of the LED components previously required to look and light just like the traditional incandescents it replaces while using 86% less energy and lasting 25 times longer.
The new BR30 LED uses elements of Cree's SC5 Technology Platform to produce more light with fewer LEDs, resulting in a lower-cost system that does not sacrifice functionality, says the firm.
"Cree's recent advancements in LED technology allowed us to cut the price by going from eight LEDs to two," notes chief marketing officer Betty Noonan.
Cree says that the BR30 LED flood light is suitable for use in recessed lighting fixtures and provides a wide-beamed, balanced light source within a real glass bulb, just like a traditional incandescent BR30. The soft-white 65W (2700K) and daylight (5000K) incandescent replacements feature a traditional shape and glass dome to blend with existing BR flood lights and provides consumers with the flexibility to upgrade one or multiple bulbs. Cree's BR30 LED flood light turns on instantly and is dimmable with most standard dimmers. Both versions deliver 655 lumens, consume only 9W and are designed to last 25,000 hours.
Cree's BR30 LED flood lights are ENERGY STAR compliant with a 5-year consumer limited warranty, and are available at The Home Depot.
