MACOM acquires Aeroflex's diode business from Cobham
M/A-COM Technology Solutions Holdings Inc of Lowell, MA, USA (which makes semiconductors, components and subassemblies for analog RF, microwave, millimeter-wave and photonic applications) has acquired Aeroflex's diode business from UK-based Cobham plc for $38m (funded with available cash). The business had about $37m in revenue in 2014.
Cobham (which designs and manufactures equipment, specialized systems and components for the aerospace, defense, energy and electronics industries) acquired Aeroflex Inc of Plainview, NY, USA in May 2014, and retains the Test & Measurement division (now Cobham Wireless)
The Aeroflex diode business will complement MACOM's existing product portfolio of RF and microwave diodes with the addition of JAN (Joint Army Navy)-certified diodes and transistors. The acquisition is also expected to increase the scale and opportunity of MACOM's diode business to drive COGS (cost of goods sold) efficiencies and be accretive to the firm's non-GAAP operating margins and earnings per share (EPS), once the business' facilities are fully integrated.
