Infinera and BICS and Win Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award
Infinera Corp of Sunnyvale, CA, USA, a vertically integrated manufacturer of digital optical network systems incorporating its own indium phosphide-based photonic integrated circuits (PICs), and BICS, a global provider of international connectivity and inter-operability services, have won the Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards in the Wholesale Service Innovation category. The award recognizes the modernization of BICS' pan-European network, which BICS recently upgraded with Infinera's Intelligent Transport Network featuring the DTN-X platform. The award was accepted by Eric Loos at BICS and Chris Champion at Infinera, during the awards ceremony last week.
BICS' network stretches across Europe and into submarine cables Europe Indian Gateway (EIG) from Europe to India and SEA-ME-WE (South East Asia-Middle East-Western Europe) from Europe to APAC. This network is able to deliver a portfolio of solutions to meet the existing and future demands of mobile virtual network operators, mobile network operators, service providers and wholesale carriers. Infinera's DTN-X platform delivers 500 Gigabits per second (Gb/s) of capacity of long haul super-channels with integrated OTN switching, enabling BICS to efficiently manage their network and deliver 100 Gigabit services to customers at cost effective prices.
"We are extremely pleased to have received this recognition for our pan-European network. We strive to provide the best possible service to our customers and by deploying an Infinera Intelligent Transport Network we can provide flexible solutions with a faster service implementation, translating to a much shorter time to market for our customers. This makes Infinera the ideal partner for our network," said Johan Wouters, SVP Capacity Business Management at BICS.
"We are honored to have won this award with BICS," said Chris Champion, senior vice president, EMEA Sales at Infinera. "With the Infinera DTN-X platform, BICS can deploy networks in days and new services can be activated in minutes, a key benefit for BICS' network."
