Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum exhibits new TURBOVAC i line of turbo pumps for analytics market and R&D
Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum GmbH of Cologne, Germany says that, with the official launch of its TURBOVAC i product line at Analytica 2014 in Munich (1–4 April), it is strengthening its market position in turbomolecular vacuum pumps for analytical instruments and for R&D applications. The new range was previously presented in March at the 2014 PITTCON Conference & Expo in Chicago.
Together with a pumping speed 60% higher than that of comparable products and a compression ratio 100 times higher than previous-generation products, the new TURBOVAC pumps series differentiates itself from competing products due to versatility and low maintenance needs, claims the firm. For example, the TURBOVAC 350 i and 450 i models, which are specifically designed for ultra-high-vacuum applications and for installation in compact pump-system solutions, are suitable for processes with small backing pumps, reducing procurement and operating costs. By contrast, the TURBOVAC T 350 i and T 450 i models are designed for process applications and high gas throughput. The pumps offer fast run-up times and insensitivity to particulates. Both model variations provide a range of options for diverse specialty requirements.
Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum claims that TURBOVAC i pumps are easy to maintain, due in part to their maintenance- and oil-free hybrid bearings. In addition to being reliable and durable, they also produce minimal vibration and noise during operation, adds the firm. If needed, their ceramic ball bearing can be replaced on site. A purge port that protects the bearings from critical gases and particles also increases the pumps’ lifespan and uptime. Installation and maintenance are simplified with intelligent design solutions and integrated drive electronics. A versatile interface with all standard ports allows for data communication.
“Test runs with various customers demonstrate that TURBOVAC i pumps can make full use of the advantages they offer in the field,” says segment CEO Martin Füllenbach. “The models are the highest-performing, most versatile and lowest-maintenance pumps on the market,” he claims.
