MBC extends Infinera DTN network into new interconnection facilities

Mid-Atlantic Broadband Communities Corporation (MBC), a wholesale open-access network transport provider, has expanded its network in the mid-Atlantic region with connections in Washington and Richmond, Virginia.

MBC has expanded the reach of its open-access transport network with new Points of Presence (POP) locations at the CoreSite data center at 1275 K Street in Washington, DC and the QTS data center at 6000 Technology Boulevard, Richmond, Virginia. These expanded POP locations will enable MBC to provide wholesale transport services to its carrier customers as well as enable additional connectivity options, says the firm.

MBC has extended its Infinera DTN network into these new interconnection facilities. Infinera Corp of Sunnyvale, CA, USA, is a vertically integrated manufacturer of digital optical network systems incorporating its own indium phosphide-based photonic integrated circuits (PICs). MBC's Infinera network enables rapid provisioning for high bandwidth transport services, and provides low latency transport connections to southern Virginia and MBC interconnection facilities in the Carolina's and Georgia.

Infinera appoints senior VP, general counsel and corporate secretary

Infinera has appointed Alastair Short as senior VP, general counsel and corporate secretary.

Short was most recently general counsel and corporate secretary of Better Place Inc (a company that designed and manufactured infrastructure for electric vehicles), which he joined in 2011. Prior to that, he was VP and general counsel for global technology firm 3PAR from 2002. Short’s experience includes senior legal positions with two start-up companies, MetaTV and Netigy. He has held senior positions at Hitachi Data Systems, including executive VP of legal affairs. Short gained an L.L.B. from the University of Warwick, UK.
