Hittite introduces HMC1061LC5 Track & Hold amplifier
Hittite Microwave Corp of Chelmsford, MA, USA (which designs and supplies analog, digital and mixed-signal RF, microwave and millimeter-wave ICs, modules and subsystems as well as instrumentation) has introduced its HMC1061LC5, a Track & Hold (T/H) amplifier that offers the capability for microwave signal sampling with ultra wide bandwidth and excellent linearity and low noise, says the firm. It is suited for the front-end of high speed A/D Converters to enable sampling capability up to 18 GHz.
HMC1061LC5 is a dual rank T/H amplifier that offers signal sampling over 18 GHz bandwidth, with 9 to 10-bit linearity at 1 Vp-p full scale level from DC to beyond 5 GHz input frequency. This part provides low noise of 1.5 mV and very low random sample jitter of typically <70 fs, which minimizes jitter induced Signal-to-Noise (S/N) ratio degradation at high microwave signal frequencies. The HMC1061LC5 can be clocked to 4 GSPS with minimal dynamic range loss, and it provides DC-coupled, differential signal I/Os and differential clock inputs. The dual rank operation doubles the time the signal is valid at the output compared to a single rank T/H amplifier, thus relaxing the sampling requirements for the connected A/D Converter.
All I/Os are 50 Ohm impedance for each differential half circuit and operate at true ground-referenced common mode potential. HMC1061LC5 can be used to expand the bandwidth and/or high-frequency linearity of high-speed A/D Conversion and signal acquisition systems.
The new amplifier has applications in wideband microwave A/D Conversion systems for radar, communications, and electronic surveillance systems or any wideband system requiring high speed sampling. Additional applications include test equipment and sampling scopes.
HMC1061LC5 is housed in a 5 X 5 mm QFN Ceramic High Frequency SMT package.
Samples and evaluation PC boards for all SMT packaged products are available from stock.
