Rubicon ships 400,000th six-inch sapphire wafer
Rubicon Technology Inc of Bensenville, IL, USA, which makes monocrystalline sapphire substrates and products for the LED, RFIC, semiconductor and optical industries, says it has shipped a total of 400,000 six-inch sapphire wafers to LED manufacturing and SoS/RFIC markets.

Rubicon says that IMS Research estimates the overall LED market will be nearly $10.9bn in 2012, with $2.9bn in lighting.
