Con Edison offering rebates on Soraa’s LED MR16 lamps to New York City businesses
Soraa Inc of Fremont, CA, USA, which develops solid-state lighting technology built on ‘GaN on GaN’ (gallium nitride on gallium nitride) substrates, says that, to accelerate the adoption of energy-efficient LED lighting, Con Edison of New York is offering substantial rebates (about $22, based on 13.2¢/kWh) on its full-visible-spectrum LED MR16 retrofit lamps.
The rebates provide an incentive to New York City businesses to install Soraa’s MR16 LED lamps, which are claimed to deliver the highest light output, color rendering, whiteness, and beam of any comparable LED MR16 retrofit lamp available. Soraa will help businesses by determining their rebate eligibility, filling out forms and submitting the applications.
A major flaw in other LED lamps on the market is that they are missing important colors in the spectrum, claims Soraa. Interior spaces contain a wide range of colors, finishes and materials that benefit from full-spectrum light sources. Wood and fibers, fabrics and furniture, art and human beings, all have complex and subtle coloration that only appears truly natural and vibrant under full-spectrum light, says the firm. Full-spectrum light is also important because interior environments are usually lit by a combination of daylight and man-made light throughout the day, so man-made light closest to daylight avoids color mismatches and provides better color consistency between day and evening lighting conditions, adds the firm.
Soraa claims that its MR16 LED lamps’ render the widest range of colors in the objects that we see, producing full-visible-spectrum light, with light quality closest to daylight — smooth, well proportioned and balanced, without ultraviolet (UV) or infrared (IR) radiation.
Also, the MR16 lamps are available in a complete suite of beam angles, color temperatures, CRI, R9, and halogen-equivalent light output (50W to 75W).
