Ascent Solar partners with Power IT-2-Channel for UK distribution

Ascent Solar Technologies Inc of Thornton, CO, USA, which makes consumer and off-grid products integrated with flexible, lightweight thin-film photovoltaic modules based on copper indium gallium diselenide (CIGS), has partnered with UK-based consultancy Power IT-2-Channel for the distribution of its EnerPlex series of consumer products in the UK.

“There is clearly significant interest in the potential of renewable energy for CE devices, especially solar, but all too often in the past the practical reality has failed to live up to the hype,” comments Power IT’s managing director Mark Power. “The arrival of EnerPlex’s award-winning products changes the landscape entirely and offers consumers a real option when it comes to sourcing power on the move – given how much we now all rely on our mobile technology, the opportunities are huge and growing,” he adds.

The EnerPlex range includes the Surfr line of solar and battery-integrated phone cases and the Kickr line of portable solar chargers. The addition of the Jumpr line-up of portable batteries now offers complete, integrated, solar charging and storage.

Ascent’s VP of sales & marketing Rob Roche reckons that the partnership will expand the reach of its products and distribution channels in the UK, leveraging Power IT’s connections in the British market to help Ascent become a recognized player in consumer electronics and specialty outdoor gear markets.
