Bridgelux makes Global Cleantech 100 list for fourth consecutive year
LED chip and lighting array maker Bridgelux Inc of Livermore, CA, USA has been named in the 2012 Global Cleantech 100, produced by research and advisory firm Cleantech Group. The Global Cleantech 100 list highlights companies which are considered most likely to make the most significant market impact over the next 5-10 years.
"We are honored to be selected for the fourth consecutive year by Cleantech's expert panel representing multi-national corporations based around the world. This recognition reflects the significance of the growing market adoption of energy efficient solid state lighting solutions," says Bridgelux chief executive officer, Bill Watkins. "And as we continue to make dramatic progress on our game-changing GaN-on-Silicon technology, we see the cost of LED lighting becoming abundantly affordable and rapidly transforming the $40 billion global lighting industry into a $100 billion market opportunity."
The list is derived from Cleantech Group's own research combined with the weighted qualitative judgments of hundreds of nominations and the viewpoints of a global panel of 75 cleantech experts. To qualify for the list, companies must be independent, for-profit, cleantech companies that are not listed on any major stock exchange. 8,285 companies were nominated this year from 85 countries. These companies were weighted and scored to create a short list of 236 companies presented to the panel for final input, resulting in 100 companies from 13 countries.
