GigOptix launches PA chipset for high-capacity E-band radios
GigOptix Inc of San Jose, CA, USA (which supplies semiconductor and optical components that enable high-speed end-to-end information streaming over networks) has released engineering sample of the EXT7601 and EXT8601 power amplifier chipsets for high-capacity E-band radios.
Consisting of six chips (a pre-amplifier driving two medium-power amplifiers that are coupled via two Lange coupler devices with a power detector on the output), the chipsets typically provide a Psat output power of 23dBm in the 71-76GHz band and 22dBm in the 81-86GHz band, including power detector losses.
“The EXT7601 and EXT8601 power amplifier chipsets represent a significant addition to GigOptix’s growing portfolio of E-band solutions,” says chief technology officer Andrea Betti-Berutto. “This new chipset solution leverages GigOptix’s heritage in providing transceiver solutions and enables E-band radio manufacturers to significantly increase the output power of their transmission systems over current solutions,” he adds.
“The chipsets enable E-band radios to transmit more data over a longer distance and at a more competitive price than is possible with current market solutions,” Betti-Berutto claims. “We expect the chipset solution to be a significant contributor to our future growth in the E-band market.”
