Anadigics PAs support Samsung Galaxy S III
RF and mixed-signal semiconductor maker Anadigics Inc of Warren, NJ, USA announced that it is shipping production volumes of its dual-band High-Efficiency-at-Low-Power (HELP3E) power amplifiers (AWC6323, AWC6325, and ALT6725) to Samsung Electronics for the new Galaxy S III smartphone, which features a 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED display, 8 megapixel rear-facing camera, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
“We are extremely pleased to have been selected by Samsung Electronics to help power the feature-rich and stunning Galaxy S III smartphone,” said Michael Canonico, senior vice president of worldwide sales at Anadigics.
Anadigics’ HELP3E power amplifiers use the firm’s exclusive InGaP-Plus technology to achieve optimal efficiency across low-range and mid-range output power levels and provide low quiescent currents. This level of performance helps to extend battery-life in handsets, smartphones, tablets, netbooks, and notebooks. These 3 mm by 5 mm dual-band PAs feature two independent power amplifiers, RF couplers, control logic and a voltage regulator in a single package, reducing printed circuit board (PCB) space requirements by greater than 20% compared with single band discrete solutions.
Anadigics HELP3E PA highlights:
- Best-in-class linearity at maximum output power
- Three mode states to achieve high power-added efficiencies at low-range and mid-range output power levels
- Exceptionally low quiescent current of 4 mA
- Two independent PAs in a single package
- 3 mm by 5 mm footprint
- Internal voltage regulation
- Integrated RF coupler
