Korean research center chooses Veeco MOCVD system for HB-LED R&D
Epitaxial deposition and process equipment maker Veeco Instruments Inc of Plainview, NY, USA says that LED-IT Fusion Technology Research Center (LIFTRC) of Korea recently selected its TurboDisc K465i GaN metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) system for R&D on high-brightness light-emitting diodes (LEDs), including green LEDs and ultraviolet (UV) LEDs.
“Veeco’s K465i enables us to conduct research and development of next-generation LED technology on a fully automated, low cost-of-ownership platform,” says LIFTRC’s chief director Ja-Soon Jang (a professor in Yeungnam University’s Department of Electronic Engineering). “Veeco’s industry-leading position, localized support and technical expertise will help us achieve our goal of collaborating with local and worldwide LED manufacturers,” he adds.
“We look forward to supporting LIFTRC and their partners and believe Korea will continue to drive the advancement of LED technology,” comments William J. Miller Ph.D., Veeco’s executive VP, Process Equipment.
