Riber sells three MBE systems to Russian research institutes
Riber S.A. of Bezons, France, which manufactures molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) systems as well as evaporation sources and effusion cells, says that it has sold three research systems to two leading research institutes in Russia. The Epineat, Compact12 and Compact 21 systems will be supplied in 2012.
Specifically, two systems will be delivered to the St Petersburg Academy of Sciences’ Nanotechnology Research and Education Centre in connection with the ‘Alferov-Riber MBE Academy’ (set up jointly in October 2010 by Nobel Prize winning physicist professor Zhores Alferov and Riber).
Riber says that the new orders confirm its growing reputation among the scientific community in Russia, enabling it to strengthen its position in that market, where it says the semiconductor industry is booming.
The firm says that the results also illustrate the characteristics of its business model, which is focused on:
- continuing to strengthen its market leadership in MBE systems;
- capitalizing on the installed base and growing sales of epitaxy equipment, spare parts and accessories, as well as corresponding services; and
- rolling out a diversification policy, including launching a range of high-value-added equipment (cells and sources) for high-growth applications (thin-film solar panels, OLED lighting and flat-panel displays, etc).
