SEMI and Yole partner on ‘HB-LED Manufacturing Growth & Transition’ webinars
Global industry association SEMI and market research firm Yole Développement of Lyons, France (which specializes in the the analysis of the microtechnologies and compound semiconductors markets) are partnering on a three-part series of webinars on high-brightness light-emitting diode (HB-LED) manufacturing, giving information on opportunities to expand business in the long term, the transformational trend to solid-state lighting, and other HB-LED applications.
The seminar series ‘HB-LED Manufacturing Growth & Transition: Challenges, Solutions and Opportunities’ aims to provide — in three sessions — a comprehensive overview of LED manufacturing, covering materials, front-end manufacturing, and assembly/packaging/test operations.
The webinars — all at 10am Pacific (1pm Eastern) — present an opportunity to learn about the latest technology and manufacturing trends, key challenges in LED cost reduction and productivity challenges, and technology demands:
- 9 February — Substrates & Raw Materials: Status quo?; Sapphire, SiC; Pending crunch?; Indium/Gallium; Trusted friend!; Silicon progress.
- 2 March — Front End Manufacturing: Capacity explosion! Epitaxy; Efficiency gains?; Fixing droop effect; Process evolution?; Patterning, Laser lift-off etc.
- 23 March — Testing, Binning and Packaging: Submount choices?; Si vs. Ceramic; Good results?; Testing & Binning; Collective packaging!; C2W, WLP, WL Optics.
The presenter of the webinars is Philippe Roussel Ph.D., who leads Yole Développement’s Compound Semiconductors market analysis department and also led the development of the 2008 Yole Développement’s LED Manufacturing Report. Yole aims to issue market reports on all key aspects of LED manufacturing in 2011.
