Hittite acquires mixed-signal IC firm Arctic
Hittite Microwave Corp of Chelmsford, MA, USA, which designs and supplies analog and mixed-signal RF, microwave and millimeter-wave ICs, modules, subsystems and instrumentation for digital, RF, microwave and millimeter-wave applications at DC–110GHz, has acquired advanced mixed-signal IC technology developer Arctic Silicon Devices of Trondheim, Norway for about $12m in cash and equity.
Arctic Silicon Devices is a private fabless semiconductor firm previously owned by the employees, Incitia Ventures and ProVenture.
Hittite says that the acquisition provides it with new IC design and integration capability as well as a product line of analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). Arctic has designed and launched multifunction low-power ADC products that target high-performance applications, including test & measurement systems and communication infrastructure.
Arctic’s staff will continue to work at their existing facility.
