Osram LEDs illuminate MODA LIGHT down-lights at University of Notre Dame

The University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana, has completed the installation of 70 MODA LIGHT ICAN 15 down-lights throughout the dining facilities of its 'Legends' campus restaurant and ale house. Illuminated by LEDs from Osram Opto Semiconductors GmbH of Regensburg, Germany, the fixtures should help to save about 82% in energy compared with the previous fixtures.

Providing bright white light at a consistent color temperature. The 6” and 4” MODA LIGHT ICAN15 down-lights used in the installation contain Osram Opto’s Golden DRAGON Plus LEDs (part of its DRAGON family of LEDs), which are robust LED and have a lifetime of more than 50,000 hours (depending on application conditions), allowing much reduced maintenance and replacement costs, claims Osram Opto.

“Golden DRAGON Plus LEDs help us achieve optimum color consistency and brightness for our fixtures,” says MODA LIGHT’s CEO Mark Samson. “The installation of MODA LIGHT ICAN15 down-lights has noticeably improved the restaurant's look and feel,” he adds.

“LEDs are an excellent option for installations where designers are trying to create the mood of a space while simultaneously achieving cost and energy savings,” says Brian Terao, Osram Opto’s director of Solid State Lighting. “Restaurants and hospitality applications are particularly well suited for creating dynamic environments through the use of LEDs.”

Within Legends, MODA LIGHT has also outfitted a football and basketball trophy cabinet with its PUK-G3 recessed fixtures, which also contain Golden Dragon Plus LEDs (suiting accent lighting and display-case applications, as they emit no ultraviolet or infrared rays).
