Luminus Devices Inc of Billerica, MA, USA, which designs and makes high-output solid-state light sources for illumination applications, has announced a partnership with Guth (a Philips Group Brand Company) in which its SST-90 white PhlatLight (Photonic Lattice) LEDs are powering several new Guth indoor and outdoor lighting products.
These include a parking garage fixture, a low-bay light, an acorn light and a cobra-head light (all incorporating multiple SST-90 LEDs), suited to both municipal installations (including roadway, walkway and parking area lighting) and commercial installations (hospitals, schools and factories). Luminus recently announced that it is powering Philips’ Selecon FOCUS LED display light, while it also powers Philips’ Vari*Lite VLX wash luminaire.
“Luminus’ high light output and long lasting LEDs offer superior efficacy in a perfect application for our big-chip platform LEDs in Guth Lighting products,” reckons Luminus’ president & CEO Keith T.S. Ward. “Long-life LEDs and high-performance Guth luminaires’ make the cost of owning and operating these light sources very economical for users throughout their lifetime,” he adds.
“As the industry tries to address the need for more lumens with array packages, Luminus continues to address these applications more efficiently with big-chip LEDs,” comments Guth’s general manager Robert Catone LC. “By using Luminus’ PhlatLight LEDs, it provides our customers a more cost-effective solution than the current LED products using a large number of 1mm LEDs.”
The SST-90 LED that power Guth’s fixtures has an energy efficiency of more than 100 lumens/watt, color temperatures of 3000-6500K, and L70 lumen maintenance of 60,000 hours.
Luminus is demonstrating the new Guth products (including the cobra head roadway light, the outdoor acorn light and the low-bay light) at this week’s LightFair International 2010 show in Las Vegas, NV, USA (12-14 May).
