Philips Lumileds implements 2D barcode tracking
Philips Lumileds of San Jose, CA, USA says that it has implemented complete forward and backward traceability for its LUXEON power LED products. According to the firm, 2D barcode technology enables it to identify down to wafer level exactly when, where, and how each LUXEON power LED was manufactured. Lumileds says that it is the first power LED manufacturer to adopt and implement such a manufacturing control system.
As the LED-based lighting market grows, the firm anticipates that the lighting industry will expect LED manufacturers and other system component providers to offer a high level of traceability and manufacturing control.
