Xenics of Leuven, Belgium, which manufactures infrared detectors and customized imaging solutions covering the long-wavelength infrared (LWIR) to visible regions of the spectrum (0.4-14µm), has concluded an exclusive partnership agreement with Sofradir-EC (formerly Electrophysics) of Fairfield, NJ, USA for the distribution in the USA and Canada of its Onca camera models, which are based on mercury cadmium telluride (MCT) detector arrays from Sofradir of Châtenay-Malabry, near Paris, France.
Models equipped with indium antimonide (InSb) detector or quantum well infrared photodetector (QWIP) arrays will continue to be offered by Xenics. Also, outside the USA and Canada, Xenics will continue to offer all types of Onca cameras through its own sales and distribution channel.
Sofradir-EC will market the sealed, rugged Onca camera range as the Electrophysics SSC-320M for applications such as tracking, target signature radiometric data collection and high-speed imaging. The SSC-320M’s MCT infrared FPA (focal plane array) offers snapshot integration, high thermal sensitivity (15mK typical), a 320Hz full frame rate and precise trigger input. The low-noise, 14-bit output delivers data via Camera Link or Gigabit Ethernet.
Sofradir-EC/Electrophysics has marketed thermal imaging systems since 2002. The firm claims a strong market position and good relationship with the US Government and its prime contractors (an important target market for Xenics’ thermal imager solutions such as the Onca).
“We are confident in the strength of Sofradir-EC in selling and supporting our high-end cooled thermography systems,” says Xenics’ founder & CEO Bob Grietens. “The agreement will give a boost to Xenics’ market share in the North American markets.”
