First Solar appoints Fitzgibbons VP federal affairs

First Solar Inc of Tempe, AZ, USA, which makes thin-film photovoltaic modules based on cadmium telluride (CdTe), has appointed Dennis Fitzgibbons as vice president, federal affairs. Fitzgibbons will be responsible for leading the firm’s federal government affairs activities in the U.S, and will report directly to First Solar’s CEO, Mike Ahearn.

“We are pleased that Dennis has joined the First Solar team. He has a wealth of experience in dealing with climate change and renewable energy issues that impact the company, and his efforts will support our mission of providing clean, affordable solar electricity,” said Ahearn.

Prior to joining First Solar, Fitzgibbons was chief of staff for the Committee on Energy and Commerce in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he participated in major legislative policy debates and development relating to energy. Fitzgibbons has also served as director of public policy for Daimler Chrysler. He earned a BA degree from Harvard College.
