Optowell releases high temperature red VCSELs

Distributor of optoelectronic components The Optoelectronics Company of Henham, Hertfordshire, UK says that Korea’s Optowell Co Ltd has released a visible red 670nm Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL).

Suited to applications such as position sensors, medical instrumentation, bar code scanners, laser mouse, plastic optical fiber (transmission) and battery operated optoelectronic equipment, the PM67-F1PON provides an output power of 1mW typical at an operating current of 4mA and operating voltage of 2.5V maximum. The circular output has a beam divergence of 14° minimum and 30° maximum and spectral bandwidth (RMS) of 0.85nm maximum. The device is packaged in TO-46 housing with flat window and has an operating temperature range of -20 to +50 °C.

The VCSELs are also available in a TO-46 package with dome lens (providing a narrow 2° circular output beam) and as unpackaged chips.
