Mimix Broadband Inc of Houston, TX, USA has launched a driver and power amplifier pair offered in standard 3mm x 3mm and 4mm x 4mm QFN plastic packages, covering 12-16GHz.

The XP1042-QT driver amplifier provides +38dBm OIP3, +25dBm P1dB and 21dB gain, while the XP1043-QH power amplifier achieves +41dBm OIP3, +32dBm Psat and 20dB gain. The power amplifier also includes an on-chip temperature-compensated power detector and offers power and gain control through bias adjustment.

Both devices include on-chip ESD protection structures and DC by-pass capacitors to ease implementation and volume assembly. They also have BCB wafer coating to enhance ruggedness and repeatability of performance. The pair suits wireless communications applications such as point-to-point radio, LMDS, SATCOM and VSAT.

“This compact pair of packaged QFN amplifiers offers exceptional linear performance and functionality to meet current and future demands for high-capacity radios,” claims product manager Paul Beasly. “The integrated power detector with more than 30dB of dynamic range allows our customers to control the linear output power without needing to use a discrete attenuator, and this enhanced functionality simplifies the design requirements and lowers cost for transmit applications,” he adds.
