WJ Communications Inc of San Jose, CA, USA has received an initial production order for a TD-SCDMA Multi Chip Module (MCM) chipset, valued at $0.5m. Delivery to the unnamed, China-based provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions is due to take place in Q1/2008, with additional deliveries anticipated later in the year to support China's TD-SCDMA roll-out.
"We are pleased to provide our first TD-SCDMA MCM chipset to a leading Chinese global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions," said Bruce Diamond, president and CEO of WJ Communications. "Over the past several years, we have strategically focused our product roadmap on providing semi-custom system-level, highly integrated MCM and RFIC solutions. Recently, our design teams in conjunction with our customers have developed innovative solutions through dialogue with our customers' top management, system architects, and design engineers."
TD-SCDMA (Time Division-Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access) is a 3G mobile telecommunications standard used in China. In addition to the semi-custom TD-SCDMA MCM, WJ offers various devices for the TD-SCDMA platform, including small signal solutions consisting of mixers, 5V drivers, and 28V power amplifiers. An example of a frequently utilized combination is the AH212, a 1-watt high linearity high gain InGaP HBT amplifier, used as a driver amplifier for the dynamic single stage AP602 and AP603 InGaP HBT power amplifiers.
